Worth some persistence

Email request. No figure is published, because no membership is offered online. Prayer intentions and candles are offered separately and the Annals is a paid subscription.

The shrine no longer publishes a confraternity page, so the letter asks the question as well as making the request. The secretariat answers in English or French.

Write to the shrine secretariat at secretariat@shrinesaintanne.org or telephone 418-827-3781 and ask whether anyone is still enrolled in the confraternity of Saint Anne, because the shrine's own site no longer publishes one. What the site does offer now, each of them live and immediate, is a prayer intention left at the statue, a votive candle, and a subscription to the Annals of Saint Anne.

Members have a portal to sign in to.

Saint Anne is the grandmother of Jesus, and Beaupre is where North America has gone to ask her help since 1658. Pilgrims come for the great relic, the miraculous statue and the crutches left at the door. The word confraternity promises more than the shrine offers a layman today: the shrine keeps prayer intentions at the foot of the statue, publishes the Annals of Saint Anne, and remembers benefactors, but it does not publish a confraternity roll you can be written into online. If being enrolled matters to you, that is a question for the secretariat rather than a form you can fill in tonight.

Where it comes from

The shrine itself dates from 1658 and is the oldest pilgrimage site in North America, served by the Redemptorists. The shrine's own pages give that date; no founding date for a confraternity is published there.

What you promise

None are published, because no membership rule is published.

What the Church attaches

The shrine undertakes to place prayer intentions sent to it at the foot of the miraculous statue of Saint Anne. No indulgence attached to membership is published on the shrine's pages.
